Coffee, hot, coffee

Spreading caffeine to my blood

Keeping me awake

You’ll never know it

But you are the reason that

Cafes open at night

MAN!!! This slice of life thing is turning into a pie-in-the-face life!!!  I soOOoo wish I could just turn in a haiku or an acrostic poem and call it a day.  But do I dare insult my….wait…yeah…my five fans?!?!?  Will they stop following me?  Will I look back in forty years and think to myself, “If only I had posted something substantial, something witty yet biting, something world-altering, something with-lots-of-dashes and …

No, no, I will not.  In forty years, I will be 74 and most likely I’ll be complaining about how teenagers are a menace and asking my grandson to help me out setting up this doo-hickey so that Gramps can watch those ol’ television shows…

That’s right…I went there…ageism.

  1. Ha! You had me with the dash, or was it a hyphen? I guess it was a hyphen, an -en dash. Proud to be one of 5–I jumped on the welcome wagon after slicing for 4 years. I soooo do haiku when there is no time. No judgment for a haiku or a parody or simply judging those who judge you at the coffee shop. Watch your world tomorrow and all day think–what is blogworthy? And if all you have is a 5 word memoir, go for it!

  2. If you are going to do haiku, coffee is a great topic to write about. 🙂

I quickly learned that there are days when you have plenty to write about and details flow from your fingertips…and then there are those days when they are simple but powerful poems. Write how you feel and your followers will start to multiply.

I am so thankful for those late cafes too that supply my blood with that much need caffeine to get through the night.

  3. I was having a conversation with some folks yesterday about “slice envy” because some people are writing the most amazing pieces of writing each day. This is year 2 for me and this year I feel more pressure to have better writing. But a friend said: Show up and tell your story, so that’s what I’m doing and that’s what you did too!
